Dancing with Elder Bob
I have a story out in today's New York Times magazine called "Dancing with Elder Bob." It's my account of an unexpected encounter with a spiritualist senior citizen, deep in the canyon country of southern Utah. I lived out there and worked as an Outward Bound instructor and river guide for the past 11 years. So basically this summer in Brooklyn is the first summer of my adult life that I've spent indoors. I"ll tell you how I like it when it's over. Read the story at:

I suppose the lesson learned here is that if you spend your life locked inside an apartment instead of tramping through the desert, you're more likely to get published in the New York Times.
Stay tuned: next week I'll be reporting irregularly here from the Dem Convention in Boston. No, I don't have a credential, but that's never stopped me before.
