Tune your dial to Radio LaFrance
Sunday, March 13, I will be interviewed by Wisconsin Public Radio for the show "To The Best of Our Knowledge," discussing my book The Making of Toro. The elusive Travis LaFrance will also appear. It's described like this:
Mark Sundeen got an offer he couldn't refuse. A publisher paid him upfront to write a book on bullfighting in Spain. Mark doesn't speak Spanish, knows nothing about bullfighting, and hates to travel, but that didn't stop him from writing the book. He just made the whole thing up. In this hour of To the Best of Our Knowledge, the art of faking it and the philosophy of BS.
The segment will last about 15 minutes, and is syndicated nationally. Find a local station, or listen online. Posted by Mark Sundeen on March 10, 2005 01:04 PM
I enjoyed the interview. She should have let you talk more and cut the dramatic readings. I especially enjoyed the part about Carmen and the Nike jogging suit.
The woman who came on after you -- the Air Guitar champ -- sounded interesting. However, having her play air guitar on the radio was a low point in the use of the medium. After a minute of imagining her playing air guitar, with no exposition, it turned out that she wasn't in the studio with the interviewer. She'd been playing for no one, swishing her hair against a microphone in solitude. . . . On second thought, it may be a high point in the history of the medium.
For those who want to skip the first interview (th e "bullshit" guy) your interview was 18:30 - 31:00 on my real player.
